This leg is probably the most well known part of our tour due to the television program Top Gear; Vietnam Special, where the 3 tackle the length of Vietnam by two wheels. It sounds good and was part of our inspiration but after re-watching it in Vietnam we spot the scripting, exaggerations and video slicing.
The road up to Buon Ma Thuot wasn’t the best we’ve had, we decided to take a shortcut and miss the city aiming to make more distance northwards. It worked but a day of gravel sections and bumps had shaken off a few bolt, we had a few mechanic stops replacing bits donated to the road.
We set off early heading northbound towards Dalat, not before long we’re in the mountainous roads, the scenery, road quality and enjoyment factor are all unbelievable. Winding turns snaking up the mountain with brief breaks in the foliage revealing spectacular views.
